April 10, 2019  – Campus Security & Life Safety magazine announced that the DoorGuard system developed by Orion Entrance Control, Inc. Orion Entrance Control, Inc. DoorGuard Wins 2019 Secure Campus Platinum Award

As campus security continues to be a nationwide concern, this second year of the Secure Campus Awards program brought in nearly twice as many entries as last year. Winners were selected based on the following criteria: features, innovation, user-friendliness, interoperability, quality, design, market opportunity and impact in the security industry, technical advances and scalability.

The Orion Secure DoorGuard (DoorGuard) tailgate detection system is the company’s latest product. It uses a solid-state LiDAR sensor to accurately determine when someone is attempting to gain entry through a secured access point (such as swinging doors, sliding doors, or virtual/no doors) after a visitor or employee swipes their access card. The high accuracy of this technology allows the detector to determine the difference between additional individuals versus bags and other objects.

“We were thrilled to win this award for our new, innovative DoorGuard system. We developed this product to take advantage of LiDAR smart sensing technology so it could provide a high level of security while integrating with new or existing access control systems and the versatility to work effectively in a variety of environments. To date, the feedback and interest in DoorGuard have been positive and strong and winning this award helps reinforce this,” said Steve Caroselli, CEO and founder of Orion.

The company is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019.  It recently tripled its production space due to high product demand and the development of next-generation products such as DoorGuard. Orion’s products have won numerous awards, and Orion has quickly become an established and innovative resource in the field, regularly contributing to industry publications and offering expertise at trade events and conferences. Other accolades include the 2015 Government Security Award (Govie) for its Optical Barrier Swing Glass – High Glass (OBSG-HG) turnstile, the 2019 Govie for DoorGuard, and the 2019 Security Sales & Integration MVP Award for DoorGuard.

Campus Security & Life Safety is honored to announce the Platinum and Gold winners of our 2019 Secure Campus Awards. The innovation, quality and functionality of these winning products show how dedicated companies are to the safety and security of campuses nationwide,” said Sydny Shepard, executive editor of Campus Security & Life Safety. “I am pleased this awards program continues to grow and highlight outstanding products in the campus security vertical.”
