Stephen Caroselli, CEO and founder of Orion Entrance Control, Inc, has been awarded the 2018 Business Excellence Award in the Manufacturing – Small Company (fewer than 100 employees) category.

The company, which manufactures optical turnstiles and entrance control systems, has rolled out a steady line of new products throughout its nearly 10 years of operations.

“Security and traffic monitoring equipment are no longer optional. We work hard to make our turnstiles, speed lanes, and other entrance control technology solutions fit seamlessly into our clients’ lobbies while providing peace of mind for businesses and their visitors,” said Caroselli, who started the company with his wife Kathie, out of her parents’ garage in Hudson. “This award is an incredible honor because it shows just how far we have come while staying true to our values and commitment to our team. I want to thank everyone at Orion for working together to strive for business excellence.”

Orion was presented with the 2018 Best Manufacturing Small Business at the November 1st celebration in Manchester. The award recognizes the imagination, industriousness, innovation, and achievements of business owners and operators in New Hampshire.

Just last month, the company relocated and nearly quadrupled its square footage to address current and projected growth. The client roster includes many of the most well-known companies in the world. Due to the nature of the projects and active non-disclosure agreements, many of those must remain anonymous, but several are on the Fortune 100.

Orion sources almost all of its components and materials from New Hampshire and New England, and all products are manufactured on site at Orion’s headquarters in Laconia. The new and substantially larger headquarters is just a few hundred yards from the previous location, demonstrating Orion’s commitment to remain in the community.

Caroselli is considered an expert in the field, regularly appearing in industry publications and offering expertise at trade events and conferences. The Orion OBSG-HG turnstile was awarded the 2015 Security Products Magazine’s Govies Government Security Award, among other accolades.
