The peer-distinguished awards reflect the best innovation shaping the security industry
Orion Entrance Control, Inc., leading global provider of SpeedLane turnstiles, remote lane control software tailgate detection solutions announced Orion Secure DoorGuard (DoorGuard) as a winner of the 2019 ASIS Innovative Product Award.
The DoorGuard tailgate detection system uses a high accuracy LiDAR technology to address a longstanding concern of tailgating or piggybacking events (the attempt to gain entry through a secured access point after an employee or visitor or visitor swipes their access card). The Orion Secure DoorGuard solution provides the ability to differentiate between an additional individual trying to gain entry versus bags and other objects.
“We’re honored to have DoorGuard recognized with such a prestigious group of innovators. When combined with our Infinity software, we’re able to present a solution to risk managers that far exceeds current market capabilities for both tailgate and occupancy sensing in a single package. As a vice-chair to the San Fernando Valley ASIS Chapter in Southern California, I’ve seen firsthand how important these types of solutions are for the industry. And as the new program manager for Orion’s DoorGuard division, I’m able to take that direct connection with the industry and ensure that we’re not creating a solution looking for a problem but developing answers to existing challenges,” said Mike Johnson CPP, Program Manager for Orion Secure DoorGuard.
ASIS International, the world’s largest membership organization for security management professionals, announced the recipients of its 2019 Innovative Product Award (IPA) for Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2019, to be held September 8-12 in Chicago.
The ASIS IPA competition, formerly known as Accolades, recognizes the security industry’s newest, most innovative products, services, and technology solutions. The program saw a 17% growth in entrants over last year, receiving 35 product submissions from across the globe in this year’s competition. Product entries had to represent a technology that was introduced within the last year. A group of judges comprised of end-users and experts in security technology selected the top winners based on the level of innovation, unique attributes and the benefit the product or service brings to the security industry.
“Developing a new security solution or service can be a difficult challenge, and as such we are excited to highlight the dedication, expertise, and sheer hard work of our deserving winners,” said Ronald Lander, CPP, Chief Specialist, Ultrasafe Security Solutions and Co-Chair, ASIS IPA Committee. “This year’s competition was the closest in the eleven-year history of this competition, with contributions from several new security sectors. We congratulate all honorees and look forward to showcasing each winning solution at GSX this year.”
