Orion Entrance Control’s frictionless, LIDAR-based entrance control product Orion Secure DoorGuard ™ debuts at GSX in Las Vegas

Orion Secure DoorGuard ™ product shot and logoThe Orion Entrance Control team attended the Global Security Exchange (GSX) security conference and expo September 23-27 in Las Vegas, where we were among 550 exhibitors from 113 different countries displaying the latest in innovative security products and services. We were there to connect (and reconnect) with friends, colleagues, and customers, attend a few education sessions and share our latest research and products with some of our favorite media outlets. We also unveiled our newest product, the Orion Secure DoorGuard.  The event marks the fourth year Orion has attended the event.

What’s DoorGuard?

Secure DoorGuard is a tailgate detection system that uses LiDAR sensoring to accurately determine who is attempting to gain entry through a secured access point (such as swinging doors, sliding doors, or virtual/no doors) after a visitor or employee swipes their access card.

This new secure-door solution was very well received, and we met with many folks who wanted to help us beta test DoorGuard at their own facilities. DoorGuard was so popular that at one point, we couldn’t walk through the booth because so many people were inside. We are still accepting requests for beta sites, so please contact us if you’d like to try it out for yourself.

Entrance control trends

It was great to share what we’re seeing in entrance control technology with others. Orion CEO Steve Caroselli stopped by GSX Radio and ASIS International TV to talk about security protocols and how they are evolving to comply with today’s security needs.

The show saw 200,000 people come through its doors. Many of the new people we met were from industries where entrance control is becoming a must-have, rather than a “nice-to-have,” as we saw before the events on September 11.

The Orion team also noticed that more American-made products were on display, suggesting that consumer demand is pointing to domestically-produced security technology.

Connections are key

It’s no secret that we are strong believers in the power of great conversations, and that is exactly what events like GSX are designed for. The conference was certainly worth attending. It was great to reconnect with old friends and new friends and celebrate our newest product.

We’ll be back next year in Chicago, with a booth twice the size. But you don’t have to wait until then to check out our full line of entrance control products. Browse and filter the endless options for turnstiles, speed lanes, and access control accessories on our website.
