How a leading Financial Services Firm standardized on Orion OmniLane Swing Barrier
Orion OmniLane swing barrier is now the global entrance control standard for one of the world’s leading financial services firms.
The Client
Our client is one of the leading financial services firms, with offices across the world demanding the highest standards of security, technology integration, and workplace design. With thousands of employees and visitors moving through their entry points daily, access control is not an afterthought; it is a front-line business requirement.
The deployment spans multiple site locations across the globe, including their headquarts in New York City, covering main lobbies and numerous controlled entry points within the firm’s floors; each with its own throughput, security, and integration requirements.
The Challenge
The client had a mix of previously installed entrance control solutions installed across locations. The result was an inconsistent security posture, mismatched aesthetics, and a technology integration layer that couldn’t keep pace with the firm’s evolving access control requirements.
The firm looked to establish a single global standard, and Orion SpeedGates were their choice. The decision came down to more than product specs. Orion’s US-based manufacturing, factory support model, and the operational simplicity of Infinity™ software made the case for standardization straightforward.
When OmniLane entered the conversation, it answered the remaining technical requirements the firm hadn’t been able to solve; a 7-inch top width purpose-built for embedded technology, barrier heights up to 6 feet AFF, and expanded interior pedestal space to house the credentials, biometrics, and identity management hardware their environments demanded.
After evaluating numerous turnstile solutions, we found that OmniLane delivered the flexibility and performance we were looking for. Combined with Orion’s responsiveness and willingness to adapt the solution to our requirements, it gave us confidence that each location could be equipped with a speedgate solution tailored to its specific needs.
Building on a Trusted Relationship
The firm didn’t start with a product search. They started with a partner they trusted. Orion’s ability to deliver secure, reliable entrance control solutions across multiple locations was the foundation of the decision – OmniLane was the answer Orion brought to the table.
For a firm where preventing crawl-under and visual deterrence are both priorities, OmniLane’s external drive shaft design was a meaningful differentiator. The design has a key mechanical advancement over prior swing gate configurations, that allows glass barriers to descend closer to the floor and reach heights of up to 6 feet Above Finished Floor (AFF).
The product’s shape provided the integration surface their technology stack required. Unlike the hourglass-profile top of legacy swing gate designs, OmniLane’s flat top accommodates embedded card readers, biometric devices, and visitor management hardware cleanly and without custom modifications.
Leveling feet addressed the floor conditions present across the firm’s locations, eliminating the need for subfloor work and keeping the installation timeline on track.
The Deployment
Orion completed multi-location installations, delivering over 50 lanes across the client’s offices globally. This requires close coordination with security, facilities and project stakeholders.
Each site was held to the same standard: consistent security posture, consistent user experience, consistent finish. This also established OmniLane’s first major real-world footprint, validating the product at scale.
The Result
The client likes the lanes because the look, the capabilities and the consistency across locations have held up against the standards of one of the world’s most demanding financial institutions. The clearest signal of satisfaction is what’s happened since: the client has continued ordering lanes over the past year, expanding OmniLane’s footprint as they take over new space and redesign existing entry points.
These projects reinforced Orion’s role as a trusted entrance control partner for one of the world’s most demanding financial institutions. By combining proven expertise with a platform designed for modern security requirements, Orion delivered a solution that could be deployed consistently across multiple locations without compromising security, design, or operational efficiency. It stands as proof that OmniLane performs at scale across multiple environments, under real-world security demands, in one of the most exacting commercial real estate markets in the world.
